Book Review: Shattered Souls by Mary Lindsey

Love. Death. Destiny. Danger.

Lenzi hears voices. She also see visions -- gravestones, floods, a gorgeous guy with steel gray eyes. She knows she must be going crazy, just like her dad did. Her boyfriend, Zak, can't do anything to helpk and the voices just keep getting louder, the visions more intesen. But when Lenzi meets Alden, the boy from her dreams, everything makes sense.

Sort of.

He tells Lenzi that she's a reincarnated Speaker -- someone who can talk to lost souls and help them move on -- and that he has been her Protector for centuries. But instead of embracing her abilities, Lenzi struggels between her life as the girlfriend of a sexy musician and the life she is destined to lead with Alden. Yet time is running out; a malevolent spirit has been trying to destroy Lenzi for ages, and he will surely kill if she doesn't make a decision soon.

Her choices are clear: Destiny or Normalcy. Alden or Zak. Life or Death.

This book was excellent. To start with, I love the cover! How unique and captivating! That was the main reason I picked up this book in the first place. The plot was also very unique - Lenzi is a Speaker, a destiny she does not want to embrace. She is caught between life with her boyfriend and life with Alden as a Speaker. It was an excellent adventure following Lenzi as she deals with lost souls and the Intercessor Council. This journey is quite memorable!

Movie Review: Star Wars

I might be the only one on the planet who has not seen all of the Star Wars movies. Well, that has be rectified. I have recently finished watching all of the Star Wars movies starting with Stars Wars IV through VI and then I through III!! I must say, it was quite an education. They were entertaining to watch, but I definitely have not become a Star Wars fanatic...sorry?!

For anyone who has not watched these movies yet, I would recommend you take the time to watch them all! Just maybe not all in one day :) Don't forget to read the book series as well! Follow the link below to place these items on hold!

Book Review: Cinder by Marissa Meyer

This book was amazing. As I have already mentioned, I love retellings of well-known fairy tales. Although this one is related to the story of Cinderella, it does not as closely follow the fairy tale as other novels do. This is a completely new take of the story. It combines elements of Cinderella, The Terminator,  and Star Wars. Cinder is the first book in the Lunar Chronicles and I can't wait for the next one. I started and finished this book in one day, it captured and held my attention that well! Check it out!

Summary:

Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. . . .

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

Movie Review: Kung Fu Panda 2

Normally, I am hesitant to watch a sequel of a movie, especially an animated movie since it never quite lives up to the first movie. Kung Fu Panda 2 is an excellent sequel! It's a perfect addition to the continuing story. It was such a funny movie - I was laughing continuously. I was very impressed with this sequel and have actually watched it twice. I can see it leading to a third movie as - fingers hesitantly crossed :)

Summary:

Po and his friends fight to stop an peacock villain from conquering China with a deadly new weapon, but the Dragon Warrior must first come to terms with his past.
