Book Review: Michael Vey: Rise of the Elgen

This was an amazing sequel to Michael Vey: Prisoner of Cell 25. Normally, sequels can be a little disappoint, but not in this case. The second book holds up to the first's glory! The same characters are back and better than ever. They are growing and maturing and getting stronger in their powers. If you haven't read the first book yet now would be a good time because the second book is just as good. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Synopsis:

I rolled over to my back, struggling for breath. The pain continued to pulse through my body—a heavy throb followed by a sharp, crisp sting.

The man said, “Trust me, there are worse things in this world than Cell 25.”

Michael, Taylor, Ostin, and the rest of the Electroclan have escaped from the Elgen Academy in Pasadena and are headed back to Idaho to plan their next move. But what’s waiting for them there will change everything.

After using their wits and powers to narrowly escape an Elgen trap, a mysterious voice leads the Electroclan to the jungles of Peru in search of Michael’s mother. Once there, they discover that Dr. Hatch and the Elgen are far more powerful than anyone realizes; entire countries have begun to fall under their control. Only the Electroclan and an anonymous voice now stand in the way of the Elgen’s plan for global domination.

But is the voice that Michael is following really an ally, or is it just another Elgen trap?

5th book in Tiger's curse series?!

As some of you may recall, I recently wrote a review for Tiger's Destiny by Colleen Houck. It was an amazing book and what I thought was a nice wrap up for the series.

I thought wrong...the fifth book will be released next year. They are titling it, Tiger's Dream! I am shocked and amazed. I really thought the sereies was completed with the fourth book. No plot has yet to be released so I can only guess what it would be about. My guesstimate is that the fifth book will focus on Kishan and his adventures.

What do you think the fifth book will be about?

Book Preview: Every Day by David Levithan

This is a book that no one can stop talking about. It is being acclaimed as one of the best teen books out this year! I have this book checked out and waiting to be read. It is one of the most unique concepts I have seen in a book lately!

Summary:

In his New York Times bestselling novel, David Levithan introduces readers to what Entertainment Weekly calls a "wise, wildly unique" love story about 'A', a teen who wakes up every morning in a different body, living a different life.

Every day, a different body. Every day, a different life. Every day, in love with the same girl.

There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be. "A" has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live: Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere.

It’s all fine until the morning that 'A' wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which 'A' has been living no longer apply. Because finally 'A' has found someone he wants to be with—day in, day out, day after day.

With his new novel, David Levithan, bestselling co-author of Will Grayson, Will Grayson, and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, has pushed himself to new creative heights. He has written a captivating story that will fascinate readers as they begin to comprehend the complexities of life and love in A’s world, as 'A' and Rhiannon seek to discover if you can truly love someone who is destined to change every day.

Movie Review: Think Like a Man

I recently checked this movie out from the library. I try and check out any new movies to watch. This is one that I am glad that I took the time to watch. It is loosely based on the book by Steve Harvey, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It was funny and quirky. It made for a perfect romantic comedy. Check it out today!

Synopsis:

Four friends conspire to turn the tables on their women when they discover the ladies have been using Steve Harvey's relationship advice against them.

Book Review: Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck

This book was very good! For those who love the Tiger's Curse series, this fourth book might be a little bit of a let down. The reason I say this is because the other three books were that AMAZING that the foruth book did not live up to the hype of the other three! Nonetheless, I loved this book! The ending was amazing if a little sad. I will admit - I cried during one portion of this book. It is a welcome finale to this great story.

Summary:

With three of the goddess Durga's quests behind them, only one prophecy now stands in the way of Kelsey, Ren, and Kishan breaking the tiger's curse. But the trio's greatest challenge awaits them: A life-endangering pursuit in search of Durga's final gift, the Rope of Fire, on the Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal.

It's a race against time--and the evil sorcerer Lokesh--in this eagerly anticipated fourth volume in the bestselling Tiger's Curse series, which pits good against evil, tests the bonds of love and loyalty, and finally reveals the tigers' true destinies once and for all.

New Book Alert!

I just picked up Tiger's Destiny by Colleen Houck from the library today! I am hooked on this series. I'm already 30 pages into the book...oops! I have to go back to doing homework, but not for long, since I can't resist the lure of a good book - lol! If you haven't read any of the books in the series, I highly suggest picking up the first book and letting yourself transport into the book. It's richly described and an amazing adventure. I can't wait to keep reading! More to come after I finish...

Movie Review: Battleship

From the producers that brought you Transformers, comes Battleship. Was I super impressed? No - Did I enjoy the movie? Yes. This movie is not overly amazing, but the special effects were fun to watch. The movie also features Rihanna which might be reason enough for you to watch. If you have time to watch it, I would recommend it. BUT, if you don't have time and you are looking for an excellent movie to watch, this might not be the one for you!

Summary:

Peter Berg ('Hancock') produces and directs 'Battleship,' an epic action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Based on Hasbro's classic naval combat game, 'Battleship' stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper's fiancee; Alexander Skarsgard as Hopper's older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane.

Book Review: Abandon by Meg Cabot

This was such a compelling book. I barely started it and I was flying through the pages. The plot is very fast paced as we learn more about the main characters past and the elusive John. I am a sucker for any retelling of a fairy tale or myth. This one is very losely based on the myth of Persephone and Hades. It is the first in a new series by Meg Cabot, authoress of other popular book series such as Princess Diaries, All American Girl, 1-800-where-are-you, Avalon High and Queen of Babble. She has also had some amazing stand-a-lone novels. Cabot continues to get better and better with each book. I am justing starting Underworld, sequel to Abandon!

Summary:

Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can't help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she's never alone . . . because someone is always watching her. Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.

But now she's moved to a new town. Maybe at her new school, she can start fresh. Maybe she can stop feeling so afraid.

Only she can't. Because even here, he finds her. That's how desperately he wants her back. She knows he's no guardian angel, and his dark world isn't exactly heaven, yet she can't stay away . . . especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most.

But if she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld
