Battle of the Books Featured Book ~ Fahrenheit 451: The authorized adaptation

Fahrenheit 451 is a book about burning books! Talk about ironic! Guy Montag is a fireman in this dystopian world.

His job: start fires instead of putting them out.

His motto: "Monday burn Millay, Wednesday Whitman, Friday Faulkner, burn 'em to ashesh, then burn the ashes."

His target: books - burn them at 451 degrees Fahrenheit.

For Guy Montag, a career fireman for whom kerosene is perfume, his job is essential for the safety of his society and people until he meets Clarisse, his next door neighbor and antisocial. Clarisse has a unique outlook on life. In a world where everyone is taught to think, act, and believe uniformly, Clarisse stands out in a dangerous way. Thus begins Montag's awakening to the evil of government-controlled thought and the value hidden within books.

This is one of the Battle of the Books choices for 2011. It is a graphic novel adaptation of Ray Bradbury's classic novel. It is a very quick and engaging read. Click on the picture to place your hold on a copy of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451: The Authorized Adaptation!
