2009 YA Summer Programs

Here is a listing of all the programs we will be offering this summer as part of our Young Adult Summer Reading Program. All programs are free and open to everyone in Grades 6 through 12.

June 18 at 1:45 pm - Summer Kick-off with Comedy City

June 22 at 2 p.m - Book Do-Over
You have your favorite books, but did they end the way you were hoping? Here is your chance to do things differently: rewrite the ending to the Harry Potter series or design a new cover for New Moon. Be as creative as you can be to change the look and the story of whatever book you choose.

July 1 at 2 p.m. - Paint the Library Red White and Blue
A perennial favorite returns! Help celebrate Independence Day by decorating the Library windows. No sign-up is required – just meet at the Library Garage on Franklin Street at 2 p.m. to join the fun.

July 6 at 2 p.m. – Murder! (that’s right…Murder!)
Put on your sleuthing hat and get your acting skills warmed up as we host a murder mystery here in the library. You can take part in the action or sit back and watch as the mystery plays out before you. Either way, you still have to solve the case!

July 17 at 1 p.m. – Battle of the Bands
We’re getting the band back together – or for the first time – as rock bands of 2, 3, or 4 members will rock out on Guitar Hero World Tour. The top bands won’t only be determined by game score, but also by how flashy you can crank out the tunes. Lester Public Library in Two Rivers will join us so be sure to get there early to get your band in on the gig!

July 24 at 11 a.m.Wii Tournament
The Wii tournament continues as we battle to find the top players of Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Mario Kart, Bowling, Boxing and Guitar Hero.

July 27 at 2 p.m. – Karaoke Finale
Our closing ceremony is a time to celebrate with pizza, prizes and…singing? To wrap things up, we will have a karaoke competition to hand out the final gold medals of the summer.

Just like last year, we will reward you with five hours for each of these programs you attend to add toward your reading program hours (which can be redeemed for prizes at the Finale)!
