Good Reads: Evernight

Title: Evernight
Author: Claudia Gray
A teenage girl transfers to a new school where she feels like an outcast. She meets a cute boy who seems overly protective of her and seems to have secrets that he is withholding. Then there is the hint of vampires...
Though the premise is not too far from that of Twilight, Evernight throws a curveball into the mix that you probably won't see coming. In fact, there are a couple of turns that make this story all its own and make it worth the read.
Bianca is starting her first year at the prestigious Evernight Academy, where her parents are both starting as teachers. She quickly discovers that she is surrounded by wealthy, worldly students and those, like herself, that seem to stand out. She does meet the handsome Lucas and instantly falls for him. Lucas is set on being Bianca's protector, but who or what is he trying to protect her from?
Evernight is the first book of a new series (the second book, Stargazer, was just released so keep an eye out for it, as well) and clearly takes the feel of Twilight, then turns it on its ear. Definitely worth a look for Stephenie Meyer fans and the secrets of Evernight Academy will have you coming back for more.
Evernight is located in YA fiction: YA Gray
